Yugambeh Jagun – the country including the Scenic Rim, the Gold Coast, Tamborine Mountain and the lands that surround it – is stunning and varied.
Home to birds, plants and animals unique to Australia and loved by us all.
Artist and writer Faith Baisden, whose family are Kombumerri and Mununjali from the Yugambeh language group, takes us for a walk on her Country. She stops to spend time with borobi, a koala, and buneen, the echidna, to look at the mungera worong, gum leaf, and moiyum moiyum, waterlily, and to follow the flight of the mibunn, wedge-tailed eagle, and more.
Faith introduces readers to the Yugambeh names for the local flora and fauna, and reflects on the subjects she has drawn and painted. Yugambeh Jagun is a beautiful and personal celebration of Faith’s Country and the Yugambeh language.
